End of Exams, Start of Reads

|
Praise be to Him! At last the past weeks of struggle is here to end? Nope, but to pause for a while to wait for my 2nd semester. There are still my results *shrieks* to look out for. So what have I seen? Some left their prints in the beginning and decided to end their journey. Others bowed and took up new challenges. While the rest persevered and still continue despite the juggle of life's demands.

Been waiting for the end of today's final paper. So after exams, with His will, unexpectedly, bull's eye! The book I've been looking for the past few months but succeeded in getting only one. Browsed other shelves, and bull's eye! Another wanted book in my list! So, I purchased 2 books today! Retail therapy, books! Alhamdulillah, agaknya Allah nak aku rehat baca buku dulu, the least leisure I could attain (Although I've been missing a lot of any youth events or programmes out there).

BUT, nak kena habiskan Ayat-Ayat Cinta dulu lah... But I have a strong feeling I'll be read hopping these 3!

Merdeka! Buat sementara...

Exams, studies

|
Yesterday was a chilly examination day. No, not mine. The PSLE o.r.a.l e.x.a.m.s.
It was my first time posted out. For the past two exams experiences, I was stationed at my own school's holding room. This time round, I was supposed to be on standby in school. Due to some hiccups, I had to replace a colleague as o.r.a.l e.x.a.m.i.n.e.r 1. Meaning, I am posted to a school nearby. Basically, the responsibility of being the o.r.a.l e.x.a.m.i.n.e.r 1 is a bit higher than 2. But I was glad to be paired up with a colleague from my prac school days. At least, this is a chance for me to learn the ropes. She was helpful and cooperative.

It was raining heavily on the 2nd day. Felt like an air-con room instead. An examinee's antics was one of the chilliest moments I had that day. We were quite startled by his actions. 'Is he going to cry?', 'Is he A-okay?' or when he concluded and got up, 'Is he having a headache?' His actions were quite provoking. All the symptoms were quite troubling but luckily, nothing happened. At least, the 2nd day of exam was more interesting than the first.

As for my kids in school, they are definitely enjoying themselves with 2 short weeks of studies due to ND last week and the PSLE exams this week. Alhamdulillah, at least those holidays for them and short working day for me helped in a way or another for my 4 papers of exams. I still have my last exam paper to worry and I can't wait for it to end tomorrow.
Time to hit the notes and book! *piak*

The 2 mths of Celebration! When flowers bloom! An ode...

|

The past two months, were full of gardens blooming with natural scented flowers. Had been a chaotic chore for most of us, I believe. Plans and more plans just to keep in touch with each other. Matching colours for the upcoming BIG days as bridesmaids or chosen Maid of Honour and welcoming new members to the club! (Let's have a Husbands' Welcome Tea one day shall we? Lols)

'Ainul Husna & Hisyam [The hot date 070707]

One of my very close 11 sekawan. Had our fair share of lil' secrets during secondary years. Had our tuition years together. Her family and mine were in the same orang kampung days. Did the wedding poster for her. And of course, Hisyam is also a friend of mine during our virtual days back in my Pre-U years and so, it is absolutely a heartfelt to see this long relationship reach the most anticipated day!

azmafir 049
'Azma & Firdaus [National Day, 9 August 2007]

Another one of my very close 11 sekawan. Of course, knowing each other's family and travelled together before is a plus point. And she's the only one from the early years in Saff who remains which doesn't leave me alone there. I'll miss those NIE lunch days, swimming, and wats nots. To top this up, she tied the knot with one of the NTUMS family! (That's his trademark, oh yea) A brother whom I respect and like to discuss matters during our MS days last time. At last, it did happen yes?

sofyan, welcome to the club!
Nurhairiah & Sofyan [Post National Day, 11 August 2007]

My twin (if you pronounce our names in Arabic. That's why...). Yes, the BBC of 11 sekawan! Most news at the finger tips of hers. Basically we're close because of our names. We seldom meet because she's busy as well. But we'll keep up during our 11 sekawan gatherings. And family knows each other too (what's new?) I hope you like the simple wedding guestbook I did for you.

guestbook designed by me for the bride

5 down! 6 more to go...
There's gonna be a break before another BIG day in 3 months' time.

I just can't believe it. To see my friends happily married. Those dear to me.
And it's always during the 'aqad that we'd see the tears of 11 sekawan.
Tears of happiness, tears of syukur.

p.s : Hid, pics of you that match our colour pls! You're wanted!

Soaring up high

|
Sometimes, they forget to look down.
They forget to relook. They forget to reflect.

Unless they understand and carry it out fairly.
Fair is not equal. It's based on one's capabilities.
Then they are there because of quality.

Doesn't mean they are high up there. They are better than you.
Something worth remembering.
Something comforting.
Short but sweet.
Thanks bro.

To you

|
I'm sorry.
My speed of updating is getting slower.
Life needs to be reorganised.
If only there's an auto reorganiser.
Oh well, lots of things are accelerating.
The space to breathe has been narrow.
It should and could have been better.
The positive and negative ions.
Seems to light up whenever they want.

It is affecting me.

InsyaAllah.
See you.
The end of this month.

Who's YOUR role model?

|
Who's your idol? That's the question asked by Dr Danial recently from the talk held at Al-Iman mosque. I learnt a few new things like the bubble generation and emotional quotient. If I should ask my pupils, I'd surely be hearing common responses - superheroes or superstars.

But something caught my attention last few days. I had to relieve a class. While monitoring the pupils' work, I saw a beautiful hardcover book on his table from afar. It was a resemblance to some books I have at home. I approached him and took a look at the book. It read: Stories of the Prophet by Ibn Kathir. I was stunned by the title of the book. A 9 year old boy reading a book by Ibn Kathir? More elated by that fact, I asked him, "You read this book?" He nodded.

His parents might have bought the book for him. I really hope he is guided and be one of the Qur'anic generation; to emulate the characters of the Prophets in this multicultural society called the R.e.d D.o.t. So after browsing the pages, I replied, "It's a good book. Keep it up!" I smiled and observed the rest of the class...

Meaning of life

Kuatkan azam
Tekadkan iltizam
Ku takut tenggelam
Dalam kepekatan malam

Mengundang sejuta jawapan
Namun hanya kehampaan
Melewati hari-hari kelam
Sinarnya mana hanya suram

Andainya aku dapat bersuara
Dengan bintang-bintang di angkasa
Ingin ku petik cahayamu buat seketika
Agar fikrahku, sukmaku, jiwaku yang lara
Kembali bahagia

The Prophet PBUH said:
"And know that victory comes with patience, and with hardship there is a way out, and with difficulty comes ease."

InsyaAllah aku harapkan itu.
Perjuanganku belum tamat.

A nature-friendly island

|
Her pace, unlike our own red dot, is a luxury for those who like to roam the island in a car or a jeep. Her life is full of nature's bounties and cleanliness (without the FINES board everywhere). Being an island, thrice than our own, it seems small due to the minimal amount of high-rise buildings and of course, if you wish to savour your bliss with shopping, do stop by the shopping centres not later than 630pm.

There are many historical attractions with regards to her background identity. Having visited the island prolly 10 years ago, yours truly's stay embarked on a different journey instead. Having visited the tourist attraction and maintaining a vivid recollection of those childhood experiences, she spent more of her time with the flora and fauna of the Almighty's endless creations.

If you're keen on horse riding or never tried one, there's a ranch where you can rent a horse for half an hour or an hour depending on your route. That's where I met my horsy friend, named Rudi (not the one on your left). I had a bumpy ride both in the jungle and the beach. Sounds cool, huh? =)
For those of you wish to step ahead to another level, you'll be able to do mountain climbing on a horse! But after you've been trained, of course.
(Jots down in my to-do-list)

These rabbits won't let you off. Once you're hooked, you'll get a stint of their ants bite. They'll chase after you and hop onto your lap; if you own food on your palms, that is. I prefer the baby bunnies though. Kept in the cage. The best thing was, me and my cousins held the cuties that matched our outfit.

How bout feeding the deers instead? Can't remember where's my temp messenger. All looked the same, hehe. I enjoy feeding them milk and food than the rabbits. The only thing you need is tolerance.. and persevere their ticklish tongues.. thus, saliva!

We had a special treatment from the 'gembala' to visit Tommy (another deer kept behind the fences with other friends). He has just developed new horns and we gave it leaves. Just to let you know that a deer like this drinks 4 big bottles of milk.

Other than our animals' galore, I had fun in water sports. This island's a good spot for water sports as well. I tried parasailing, much different from the one I had in Kinabalu. Much tougher as you need to descend with your hands coordination. Again, jetskiing's one of the best activities I had. I ended up with cramps as I had to ride it four times, twice on my own and twice, my cousins as my pillion. It was indeed an outdoorish way of spending the only 1 week pure holidays for me on my own with the loved ones.

Lending a helping hand

|

Wa ta'aawanuu 'alal birri wat-taqwaa...

"And help one another in righteousness and piety..." [Al-Maidah:2]

What does righteousness mean to you? Is it doing things the right way? Or more often we'd say, do the right things. I'd prefer, doing the right things the right way, rooted with pure intentions before actions. When we intend to help, it signifies righteousness with a true devotion to gain His blessings. It's a reward gained metaphysically - something unseen, non-material but returns in which stay for eternity.

Say, volunteerism. An act of willingness without any tangible gain. Depending on your special abilities and talents, you work the extra mile to lend a hand for the benefit of society. Doesn't matter which organization be it a Muslim or a non-Muslim one you're involved with, being a volunteer is certainly an ibadah. While others possess the abilities to lead, the fresher ones need the experience and gradually gain skills for personal development. And it's always the level of satisfaction in a successful event that causes the heart and will to continue future events for a good cause.

Most importantly, you volunteer because of the passion you have. Being forced into one defeats purpose of volunteering. Because every small act makes a difference. Because it matters. And it's been quite a hiatus. Good to be back to get a break from work commitments. A short temp mentor for the night and photographer for the whole event. A nice feeling to be working together with my dear ikhwan and akhawat again, catching up and to gain sight of unexpected discoveries from one another.
'Ukhuwwah itu indah jika bertemu dan berpisah keranaNya'
dan indah juga kerana hari itu aku singgah sebentar ke walimah sahabat yang rapat...

Remembered the times we mugged at the benches, at the BioSci building, my hostel.
A good ukhuwwah indeed.
Now, you embark on a new journey.

To Karima & Hafiz,

May Allah bless the both of you and unite you both in goodness.
Aameen.

Alhamdulillah

|
Heart throbbed a little. That's normal when you have to collect your results.
Have you ever felt that you'd really flunk (F) that paper and in the end you had a grade much better than that?

Remembering the moment when pens were down, well, it's all in Allah's hands. Some friends said that it's not easy to juggle between work and studies. I remembered as well the news I read on BH about being undergrads, like the path my colleagues are taking in S/I/M. It's not easy, but much tougher when you have a family. So how will I cope when I have a family later? Time management, oh yea.

I guess it's all in the mind. If you want it, you go for it with a good intention. What I mean by this, is the intention of learning something towards the redha of Allah. Prayers from the soleh, your parents, your good brothers and sisters are vital, to ease your path InsyaAllah.

"Say [unto them, O Muhammad]: Are those who know equal to those who know not? But only men with understanding will pay heed" (39:9)
I need that extra effort. The effort for me to understand more than my current state of understanding. Like a lecturer told me and others whom I've heard before, the more you want to know, the more you realise you don't know'.
There's no point to look back and regret how things could've been better during the full-time student phase. The reality is now. You've learned, you've changed and hopefully keep on changing for the better.
Back to my results, I could have not been happier. My ultimate syukur goes to Allah who endlessly prove His Greatness to this servant of His. Thank you to abah and emak for your prayers and my closed ones. Maintaining IS tough. But I'm willing to try...

Happy Birthday!

|
Selamat sweet 17 to Muhammad Farid, yesterday!
Yeap, like I text you cousin, may you be a good Muslim brother in your life and may Allah bless you with happiness dunya and akhirah. And yeap, I surely am proud of you in your mosque youth activities. Keep it up and look ahead!

On paternal's side, belated birthday to Md Afif on the 300507 and his own brother, Md Amsyar today!

+ Done with group MCQ setting assignment for Usul Fiqh
+ 2 more assignments to go (still thinking which topics to choose)

Oh yeah, I'm just having a full one week break these holidays. A pure one week break without the need to think of work. I think the hols are getting lesser and lesser.

Two more books in the list apart from the current reading. Ok, the book hopping factor again. But enjoyed it all at the moment. So first:

Left: It's hard cover a Best Seller Novel. Theme? Novel Psikologi Islami Pembangun Jiwa. Yet to know the content area of it. Wasn't my initial plan to buy. Couldn't find Ketika Cinta Bertasbih.
Right: Pudarnya Pesona Cleopatra. Same author, and much much thinner compared to the latter. Can't resist books.

In the first place, I planned to submit an entry for the local sastera competition in the cerpen (short stories) category. But I think my writings are not up to that level. Either that, or I just have no idea of creating or improvising any plots. Made me remind of my students who are good in language, but lack ideas. Haha. But nevermind, let me spend more time writing on my 2 assignments without fusing the flowery part like a cerpen.

Happy holidays!

Dimensi

|
Dimensi...
Kalimah antara aku dan Kau
Bisikan isi hati dalam perjalanan

Dahaga...
Memandang dalam lubuk hati
Mengisi kekosongan sepi

Duga...
Tiada mahu kufur ni'matmu
Benar di hadapan mataku

Du'a...
Kerana dimensi ku dahaga
Yang tiada duga kerana du'a
Pabila maqbul kalimah itu
Hanya mampu ku ucap
Alhamdulillaah

Walau sebentar, amat bermakna
Sukar, masih sukar...
Sabar, terus bersabar...
Apapun jua, sujudku tadi keranaMu
Kerana detik itu...
Terima kasih Ya Allah...

Weekend Sleepover

|
Alhamdulillah, it's not only the ties of faith that bind us together. The fact that a few of us are stepping into another phase of life add to the excitement during weekend while reminiscing old memories. I'm sure there are others who appreciate good company with old time friends, the growing up years... and for us, it keeps on growing insyaAllah till the end of time.

The late night scary-became-comical vcd...
The Man U VS Chelsea night..
The exchange of gifts reflecting ourselves...
The truth or dare for brides-2-be...
The morning breakfast delivery...
The X-Box games...
The warm jacuzzi and the hilarious pool stunts...

Not forgetting,

Our trademark: The cramp lift shot =)
Just endless...

Well, perhaps, we might not feel it now. I am sure, when the time is near and when all of you begin to take that new role, things will be much different. But I hope, our friendship will stay all the same. Well brides-2-be, I'm happy for you. And I'm glad that all 11 of us stayed for the night although 3 had to go off early...

Thanks, Hotel Rendezvous.
Heartfelt, dearest buddies.

* * *

On a deeper note,

- Lappy crashed, thus the lost of precious files.
- Trip to KK cancelled, Ophir as well. Maybe, those were signs I guess.

Holidays coming! Wee~

Empunya diri

|
Diri hairan mengapa manusia mudah menerima berita tanpa usul periksa?

Akarnya, aku tiada pasti. Mengapa mereka cuba memastikan diri ini? Sedangkan soalan itu ditujukan tepat padaku. Jujur bicara pun jadi alasan aku dusta? Diri hanya mampu berdo'a.

Aaameen...

On another note, I really hope one of my darlings come to class tmr.
I really hope I can solve this particular problem. The problem with kids' crisis.
Indeed, quite melancholic seh today...

“You shall certainly be tried and tested in your possessions and in your personal selves; and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you, from those who received the Book before you and from those who worship many gods. But if you persevere patiently, and guard against evil, then that will be a determining factor in all affairs.” (Surat Aal-e-Imran, 3:186)
Dear Allah, your guidance is needed badly...

Do you listen?

|

I wonder, out of 100%, how much do we listen? Say, while communicating, do we dominate the conversation or allow space for other people to contribute their few cents worth?

Not only at home, communication plays a part in every facet of our lives. It plays an important role in people-oriented jobs. Thus, when communication is involved, the etiquettes of conversing are vital in ensuring the equilibrium of both parties.

However, the art of listening is in the brink of extinction. Misunderstandings occur because sometimes, you snap out of an explanation and remain at loggerheads. None of you wants to give in. You refuse to listen.

When someone listens, we let this creative foundation inside us to bloom and expand. Why? Someone is willing to lend a listening ear. This motivates the speaker to cast up new thoughts and receive positive responses from the listener.

Listening increases our level of patience. There may be times when we disagree with our friends or family members. Mastering the art of listening would allow us not to press against them. Once upon a time ago, someone portrayed the importance of listening to me, thus increasing the level of patience. Since then, it’s a beautiful feeling.

Branda Ueland, a prolific author and columnist once quoted…

-------------------------------------------------------
We should all know this: that listening, not talking,
is the gifted and great role, and the imaginative role.
And the true listener is much more beloved, magnetic
than the talker, and he is more effective and learns more
and does more good

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Aligning with the Quran...

The believers' true patience, however, is very different from mere endurance. They are aware that Allah creates whatever happens to them for a reason, and that therefore it contains some hidden benefit. Knowing that Allah has determined the best possible destiny for them, they meet everything with pleasure and an open heart.

Allah tells the faithful to adopt this attitude in the following verse:
"Those who are steadfast and put their trust in their Lord"
(Surat al-'Ankabut, 59).

We never know that by listening, we may be able to learn or even share new things.

So, don’t just listen. Be a true listener. ^-^

Meeting deadlines

|
These past few days...
With deafening ears, with a heart that bleed, when patience was tested

These past few days...
Chasing the time, when fingers were dancing, with red ink blots, the owner would doze, can't continue no more

These past few days...
When all ages irritate you, when the phase of the term is rushing mad hour, when the space you call home becomes your workplace

The irony, the irony of it all...
*At this point, I wouldn't want to increase new zits, help!*

It's everywhere, to my left, right, above and below.
Even in the car. Even in the room. Everywhere.

Games? Chat? Shop?
The least ways to ease the self and relax.
So you're talking about a weekend break? 'Where got? Use your blain...' Ala PCK.
I've been coming I tell ya. Thus, enduring, phew.
But there's always a limit to one's health.

Meeting here meeting there meeting everywhere
Complain here complain there complain everywhere
Up Down Left Right
Maybe people would ask...
Any committee board?
No.
Any management board?
No.
So, which?
Whiteboard, everyday =P
The loyal one...

me, painting reality...

Repentance, awareness of God, and uprightness are the foundations of all that is beneficial. Know that repentance is a key, God consciousness (taqwa) is vast, and uprightness is the source of rectification. [Shaykh Ahmad al Zarruq]

Quality Time

|

The Greatest One allowed me to reunite with the strong pillars of my life recently, after seeking solace in the Land of Arabia. Alhamdulillah, I hope this chance upgraded yours truly in ruh and jasad, albeit the downside of it. Although it wasn't much of a hassle settling things being independent, the fact that some testing period was thought provoking.
The moment abah appeared, I had to look twice. Perhaps it's the weather there. True enough. But I'm glad that Allah has taken care of their health in mulahaqah, the pursuit of eternal Love.

The delaying time for arrival at the airport allowed me to let my kitchen smoke specially for 'em. Infact, back home, the mini affair expanded when the extended family members came to try the dish. Luckily I got thumbs up, phew.

- - -

The last day of April and the first 2 days of May can be considered a-year-wiser celebration for the family, both maternal and paternal. Quality time with loved ones must be treasured. Taking over will be the next generation. Thus, the strength of the family bond. This time round, with the paternal side @ Costa Sands.
Paternal's

Maternal's - Dearest cousin and aunty
May Allah bless this journey and shower His Love & Redha to all of you. May we be a good support system to one another in good and bad times. Baarakallahu Fiikum my loved ones!

When the going gets tough

|
Days come and go, leaving memories printed in our hearts.
Some may regard their lives as a routine.
Others, exploring and discovering more of what's installed for 'em.

As time goes forward and never stagnant
We are forced to think and move ahead
As we grow older and hopefully wiser
We can't run from new responsibilities

And as a Muslim, our days should better
Today from yesterday, tomorrow than present
And as I think much deeper in detail
I wonder, keep on wondering

Earlier today, the sharings yours truly had
With some dear sisters on the facets of life
The truth, when reality bites
The things we think of when age rises
Dilemma of sisters?

Can't deny the fact I have to go through
When the going gets tough, the tough gets going
But it's all a matter of the equipments you bring
The knowledge you instill
As much as I'm not a super woman
I should learn from the 'alim

At least it's a wake up call I bring upon myself
And I hope when the time comes
I'll be able to juggle them
Life will change, and I have started some
But I just need consistency
To continue with the rest
To achieve something for the benefit
Of myself, and the people I care and love...

Saturday Summit

|

Selamat maju jaya, J!

Unravel the news!

|
Remembered the day when I was told he was not accepted.
In this rat-race society, everyone wants something satisfying.
Something that leads them to their comfort zone.
And to get that, they need to pay the price.
On the other hand, those who easily got through, stumble and and fall from grace.
Was it because of glory? Popularity? Peers?

And Allah has His ways of testing His servants.
Even when you think you have failed.
When chance is not by your side.
Maybe it's a wake up call for you.
Anything can change with a twist of fate.

His hopes were shattered although he was eligible.
During the results, that March.
At the last minute, today, his dreams came true.
To be placed in one of the tertiary institutions.
A faculty which breeds outdoor potentials.

One just graduated from the design faculty. Did well. My Izdi.
One a freshie in the adventure scene. Hope to excel. My Ayid.
Both fields, passion of mine as well.
It runs in the blood, I guess.

Welcome to poly life my dear Ayid.
Dip in Outdoor & Adventure Learning, huh?
Great.
Another potential whom I'd tap for resources, hihi.
And of course, for future developments.

There was a verse of poetry that stated:

the coming days shall unravel the mystery and the news may appear from where you could never see
And when you ask Him for guidance, you should believe. He'll show you.
Just another news that made my day seemed brighter.
You're a lucky chap. I'm a delighted cousin.

Past, Present & Future

|
It wasn't a turning point of life.
The big turning point happened few years ago.
But yesterday, when eyes met, the only thing was to let it be.
She smiled radiantly, not emitting hope. Perhaps, that distant smile.
Almost hugged, the warmest, to yours truly.

Exchanged news. Felt happy on the current situation.
That was the choice made, for the better.
Then, we had our goodbyes.

Needed solace the moment the engine was off.
Stayed awhile in the car with surging emotions.
It was gushing. The mind went blank.
Still walking forward is the best medicine.
It has worked so far.
Past actions were lessons to succeed in life.

Like some snippets of a story from Qisas,

“Then you must do one of two things, either forgive or leave that person to Allah and pray for justice.”
It would be better and a higher level of piety.”
“I cannot.”
“Then you must leave that person to Allah and move forward.”

* * *

"Look at your past straight in the eyes and resolve it. Say goodbye to it, turn and move forward. Leave the past where it belongs — in the past. And don’t carry it with you to burden your present.”

* * *

You have control over how you act towards life’s events. Your reactions steer your life.”
“ What about forgiveness?”
“ Yes, forgiveness is the highest and most noble of virtues. When you are hurt by careless words, say, ‘For all the times I’ve spoken thoughtlessly, I forgive you.’ If someone oppresses you, say, ‘For all the times I’ve misused my power, I forgive you.’ If someone cheats you and betrays you, say, ‘For every time I’ve been a fool, I forgive you.’ Then the One who is the source and owner of love, forgiveness, and mercy will take you close to Him and your heart will be free.”

And I do need your forgiveness Allah.
For the heedless word I've said.
To those I've hurt.
At any time or any place.

And to the person whom our eyes met,
insyaAllah, hope to meet you once more
On the special day...

Panjimu ke arah kebenaran
Kisahmu sebagai tauladan
Ikutan sepanjang zaman
Peribadimu tiada bandingan

They say, we should remember and cherish those we love.
Every moment.
Our family, our friends.
We should love Rasulullah more,
with so much hanaan.
Are we doing so?
*nods*

Hence my next question:
Are we really emulating his attributes?
Or our actions are merely,
attributing to plain desire

Thus, yesterday, a thought provoking question,
by my witty pupil:

"Cikgu, kenapa orang tua aje yang boleh marah orang muda?
Kenapa orang muda tak boleh marah orang tua?"

Inqusitiveness occured from a lesson of antonyms - Hormat x Biadap

As they regard a teacher-must-know-everything,
I answered.

What would you answer?

It's all a matter of akhlak, baby.
Let us keep reflecting and renew our relationship
with The Best Personality Man, Rasulullah.
With Iman, Islam, and 'Ilm.

detik masa

|
Bila sesuatu menghantui diri kita, hati rasa kurang tenteram. Degupan jantung lebih cepat dari biasa. Selepas itu kita cuba renungkan semula. Adakah ini yang sepatutnya aku rasa? Adakah betul perbuatanku?

"Sadness isn't painful, it's trying not to feel sad that hurts..."

Mengapa?
Mungkin kerana...
Ah, aku harus terima.

A long semester ahead

|
At last, the schedule's out.

I can't wait for Islam & Psychology module.
I recalled attending a workshop on Counselling & Islam @ CIMS last 2 years.
The handouts are somewhere in the house, huhuh.

The only grinch is the double papers to sit for a day.
With effect from the decreasing no. of days, I shall grit my teeth.
A paper a day is already hard to bear.
4 papers in 2 days?
Calling for organiser of my life!

Sem 2's module:

+ Intro to Fiqh
+ Intro to Usul Fiqh
+ Islam & Psychology
+ Intro to Sociology

Yeah, Dr Osmani is here again! *Hoorah*

Thx to my newest device to ease my work.
Another retail dilemma though.
Must go Sim Lim!

Another prayer which I hope will be answered.
For the love of them.

March news

|
I can blog with ease due to the following factors:

+ Exams over. Resuming lectures in a few weeks.

+ Holidays! Engaged in fruitful activities, being work or leisure, the outdoorish way!

Most importantly, the 3 important dates in my diary...

4zerozero bux to spend. On? Any ideas?
I'd prefer electronic/IT stuffs though.
Either hardware or software ;)

Defining success

|
The path of success comes in many ways. Traditional for most I would say. What defines success? Is it the paper you receive albeit deficient in practical? Perhaps the level of satisfaction one gains? Or striving and attaining the best in a cohort of average peers? Getting into the field you had to, not that you want to? Or passion over peer pressure?
Through observation, regretting one's initial choice would result in withdrawal. While others, rejection causes the urge to appeal, thus excelling in a particular course of study.
Wouldn't say mine was traditional. A slower pace than my peers. Choice was not the only reason. But situation made me decide. Reflecting back, I would realise how silly I was. I could have chosen things I had passion for. Initially I felt a sense of remorse. I could have completed earlier.
Thinking ahead now. It was a choice. Although it might have been better. And the choice in a way or another contributed to my current phase in life. It wasn't due to a factor, but other existing reasons I firmly believe, and happy with. Indeed, a path towards discovery.
And I thank Allah for the special things that sparkle my life. Without Him guiding us through, we surely wouldn't make it, lah!
So, I feel much better after expressing my thoughts. Counting down...
+ 2 more days to exams. (mine, not the pupils)
+ only 2 days possible to start revising starting tonight
+ tonight for completing the uncompleted assignment
+ tonight to assess the unmarked diagnostic exercises
+ tonight to evaluate pupils' achievement rubrics to parents to be given tomorrow
May Allah enlighten and ease these responsibilities...

Between passion and pressure

|
^^ I've decided to commit more in photography. Thus, my current indulgence with other photo enthusiasts in the virtual hub. It has been a fun experimental activity, a chance to reduce another tight period of the week. A chance to do something without pressure by people around me. It's too expensive to buy a pro so I'm just playing around with my current gadget.
^^ Chatted with a friend yesterday pertaining the offer. Although it was still in the proposed stage for implementation, there's an extra boon if I were to accept it (in case, they really need my expertise). Maybe I could plan a flowchart on a long-term basis. Perhaps, some advices from people. And of course, searching for a good sign from High Above.

^^Iz's Graduates' Design Showcase 07, and their theme prescrip+ion was a success @ NLB recently. He was put i/c and basically I could feel the hardwork these students had for the past few days. They are really potentials. I may not be able to step in the same shoes as him (how i wish i could, long story), but I shared the happiness and I'm glad he made it through final year. Alhamdulillaah.

So if you plan on going for the Show, it ended on Monday. Unplanned, me and my mum ended up with the other family members. My weekend was splendid with the loved ones around.
While waiting for the rest to reach, me and mum went to Aksara (The passage of Malay scripts), Level 10. One good thing about it? A free booklet with good colour printing
quality as a takeaway. Also reminded me of my lectures and tutorials on the Melayu Kuno(old) stuffs. The info provided to the visitors brought me back to sessions where I had tons of lecture notes to memorize the pertaining History of Malay Writings during my first year in school.
^^ I doubt the satisfaction I might gain this year. Some things are materializing but improper. The mission towards the vision is clouded by unwanted actions and lacking direction. It is not surprising if people are gradually absent. And I happen to be one of them only after the second day (only that I'm still present).

Mudik ke hulu

|

|
Wahai Kekasihku...
Tiada tolok bandingnya
Kesedaran yang pernah
Kau titipkan sedetik dahulu

Wahai Kekasihku...
Walau pernah hampir
Pada azab sengsara
Yang menzalimi diri

Wahai Kekasihku...
Setelah hidayahMu
Dan peluang kedua bagiku
Enggan ku paling lagi dariMu

Wahai Kekasihku...
Walau masih ada ku mungkiri
KeampunanMu tiada bertepi
Haru sungguh rasa hati

Wahai Kekasihku...
RedhaMu ku harapkan
Kasih sayangMu ku dambakan
Du'a ini ku panjatkan

Wahai Kekasihku...
Syukurku atas bimbinganMu
Syukurku atas petunjukMu
Syukurku atas tariqMu

Wahai Kekasihku...
Tiada apa kecuali ta'at
Yang ku harap meningkat
Di atas segala ni'mat
Kepada da'ie antara du'at

Wahai Kekasihku...
Kau buktikan lagi kekuasaan
Dari hati yang pernah kelam
Ku gantung pengharapan
Penyinar nur keimanan

Wahai Kekasihku...
Ku sayu namun senyum
Ku sujud tanda syukur

Sayu. Sujud. Syukur
Moga dipeliharakan
Dalam du'a. hati. inspirasi.

What makes a good sister in Islam such a yummy and rewarding feeling? Those whom attain that level of sisterhood would feel the warmth and comfort. Just beyond words. Difficulties of seeing each other made the hearts grow fonder. Ties of faith, binded together under the same kalimah.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Surprises, surprise. Are we able to take the heat when changes happen and don't stay the way we want them to be? Are we being too relaxed in our comfort zone that we might not be able to adapt to changes? It looks almost perfect to me. The moments, the times shared. Yes, it means a lot. But like it or not, we'll go through a different phase, sooner or later. You, I or they will go. And when that day comes, we'll leave with respect and love for each other.

Thank you my dear sisters. We have planted seeds of knowledge in this journey. The seeds of sisterhood have grown to six beautiful flowers, insyaAllah. The flower pots in the same garden might be replaced with other plants. Hopefully, we'll still stay beautiful with other nourishments that'll improve the outlook of the current flowers now.

Garap ilmu yang sudah ada

|

Niat amat penting apabila kita menimba ilmu.

A sweet gesture

The boy who wasn't bright as the others
Lacked the focus he needed
Preferred to talk or call
His peers as he wishes

The boy who can achieve better
As the key should be guidance
Coming to the end of second week
'Cikgu, saya buat ni untuk cikgu' (Teacher, I did this for you)

Ten neatly folded stars
Pretty and colourful
Passed from his hands to mine
A first gift so far this year

With a brink of hope
To shine those stars
That'll be the day
When he has shaped himself
To be a better person

It's nice when you're remembered
When you've tapped somewhere in their hearts
Without realising, that's the beauty
Beauty of shaping hearts
Priceless valuables...

Dilema Episod 1

|
Tidak tertahan lagi. Kembali setelah sebulan menyepi. Bila diperiksa, tiada yang pasti. Malam ini aku diserang lagi. Nampaknya, masalah ini perlu diselesaikan secepat mungkin. Aku masih perlu bertahan beberapa hari lagi.

Hari Isnin, tidak boleh ambil cuti. Anak-anak kecil siapa nak ganti? Tak boleh, tak boleh, tak boleh cuti! Kena tunggu beberapa hari lagi.

A good 'Eid. A good year.

|
This year’s December end is definitely a good New Year start as we celebrate our ‘Eid Adha before the Masihi new year. Yes, it is also a way to reflect upon our past deeds especially if we try to focus on the sacrifices we made the whole year of 2006. What have we done? Was it enough? Did the things we do make us better people? Events like this don’t come often. As much as we can, we appreciate it and fill it like there’s no tomorrow.

Everyone has a place to reflect upon their lives. It is not necessary to look back only during the last day of the year but as Muslims, we try to reflect each day before sleep. It differs from those who keep on living their days without wanting to make any effort of changing bad habits and attitudes. Congrats too, to my fellow peers who made their way to another phase of life as wives and some, as husbands. The coming year, the number is increasing.

A benchmark for me was my trip to Kota Kinabalu with fellow colleagues. Leading simple lives, I salute their inner and outer strength. While we are living like mad cows in a mad rush society, we learnt new things along the way, especially patience. While doing some house chores yesterday, I realised the fast pace in doing things when at that moment, I didn’t need such a quicky task. We work like robots that even doing leisure, we want things to be fast as we have been trained in such ways. When I decreased the rate I was working on, I appreciated more and enjoyed it. Sometimes, quality gets out of hand when quantity is much needed. Where’s the balance? We are imperfect after all. Good enough we have insufficient natural resources, and here we are destroying ‘em.

Being in KK, again, gave me the opportunity to grab the beauty of the Divine. A more relaxed society and thumbs up weather due to all our activities being outdoors. Away from homeland, we breathed in clean air. It was nice, that this ni’mah of no-rain weather accompanied us during our 3D2N stay despite the continous downpour back at home.

School term is starting soon in 3 days time. This last one week has been endless meetings stretched like office hours. With the upcoming needs and vision aligned for the coming year, my energy is surely to be pumped. It seems that I need to work smarter this time round as the services I am rendering might be to wits end. And it seemed that discovery of certain traits of me from colleagues have put me to places where I think, expectations might be high. Time to be back to the REAL world! Current tasks for the new year:
* Department: Back in MT department
* Service: Videographer/Photographer of sch
* Partners: Sch website
* CCA : Sc & Technology Club

Let us pray to a blessful year ahead! (I’m sure some individuals close to me look forward to the exciting year! *grins* ) Be the best that we can be and always hope that our aspirations and efforts will materialise in 2007!

Shahru Mubaarak!

Books enlighten me!

|
One of her favourite past times, reading books. This girl here loves to read books. However, not considered loyal to one. More of a book hopper. But it depends too. If hooked to one, then loyalty comes first until the end chapter.

So currently, surrounded by a few books. It was aeons since the last time she stepped to a library. So, first time to the new NLB was great that it made her sick, perhaps due to the on-off weather the whole day as well.

It was a book galore. Must make it a point to resume her routine of visiting NLB like she used to those days. Lots of digging to do with the nice ambience as long as her jacket tags along!

Borrowed two books. One is a local handbook by Cheong Yuen Lin, 'Sustaining the Passion to Teach'. Another is A Cup of Comfort for Teachers. But what I need now is a cup of hot tea! The voice is sending signals of getting sick by tonight. The fact is, she sound like a toad now.

With four books to finish, with the additional Indian Summer, count herself lucky that the activity doesn't require voice, hehe!

Better heal it fast before departure in a few days. Wouldn'tbe enjoyable with bugs following you around!

Let's start the Readathon now...

p.s: Thanks sis, for the Jodi Picoult books...

Feeling much better, hopefully.
Thinking positive. Thinking ahead.

Melancholic night...

|
The path that have been taken in the past
Taught me a lot about
Friendship, leaders and family
Values I gained on
commitment, hardships or determination

Once again, I see
Faces that in a way or another
Moulded me to who I am today
Faces whom I've shared joy
And perhaps, for some, tears as well
Continuing in a higher level for the rest

I envied them, they've went that far
My pure admiration salutes up high
While me, where do I stand?
Did I ever deserve the load I once had?
Even feeling much further than them

This weakness is it here to stay?
Will great ideas be silence than say?
This moment, feeling such a dismay
Daunting hard, for bravery I pray

I don't wish for an ocean of silence
I wish to be a better person
Not for self, but for friends and society as well
Where should I heed?
Is there enough strength for me to lead?
From here, will I ever proceed?

The melancholy truth, facing the music
I know I have to proceed for a sweeter return
Not for monetary rewards but self satisfaction
More of practising the things I've learnt
Along the way from the education life to the educating line

Thank you friends, we met again tonight
The special faces whom I will always remember
Still united, for one another

This moment, this night I reflected
This entrance I took that one fine day
Which led me to many doors of chances
To find my worth hidden within
To feel those, unforgettable experiences

For the continuity to me,
Doesn't lie only within the internals
But how it continues touching my heart
To continue even when
I've exited that door...

Night Reflection

|

Langkahku usah terlalu goncang ingin tumbang
Demi mencapai kejayaan lalu mengucap kesyukuran

Di ruang sepi terkadang termangu
Apakah sebenarnya disimpan untukku?
Apakah mampu semakin kuat menunggu
Lumrah insani tetap terfikir

Khabar gembiramu wahai taulan
Do'aku tulus untuk kalian
Bahteraku masih di tengah lautan
Usahaku sudah, berkayuh di tepian
Singgahnya entah, padaMu ku serahkan

Will I be able to build more pillars of patience?

"Knowledge is a life-long journey"

|
Lovers of knowledge enters an open door that leads them to greater opportunities.
Once the doors are knocked, choices are, they remain ignorant or take a step ahead
to unlock the doors for better life chances.

Observations and coffee talks were thought provoking in the sense that there are some who continued the learning journey albeit the age of supposedly called "employees" instead of "students". Don't get me wrong. The ones I am referring to are those who seemed to circulate themselves in the education line as means to avoid entering the new phase of life, the work force.

I wonder, is it because of the larger constrains that we'll face in the field of labour that stagnate us on the lower pyramid (like opis politics)? Is it because of our social awareness and perhaps the rest of S.E.L (social-emotional learning) values taken away in the future? Is it because we are unprepared of the advantages we might lose along the way?

Again, my reflection. Isn't the formal education we gained as a track to be more responsible? To be able to apply in reality? So that we can survive the paradigm shift that shock us?

To each his own. Attachments and practices are currently the trend to equip the current youths in the labour force. Some, an eye-opener (as happened to me). Learn to leave the box of comfort and expect sharp torns poking holes to your box. It gives you shelter but shed light as well, isn't it?

Till my next reflection...

Let's learn to be brave. Do not haste. = )

Let's get energised!

|
Already the 2nd week of holidays but normally it's time for us the gahmen
serbens to either:

Choice 1: Finish any undone business with your high-ups or the school
Choice 2: OR even do some spring cleaning (throw unwanted papers, dust, insect faeces, etc)

My choice? Well, too bad. No choices at all. In fact, choice 1 is a mixture of many undone business we had to complete. Choice 2's news will be updated once the new year starts!

Oh, but we had some fun too. Sporty fun last week. A sports carnival for all gahmen serbens. To keep up with our stamina, lose some weight (perhaps?) or plainly to join fun to avoid gaining weight at home due to the super-duper-hectic weeks before. The best thing, it was held near the mosque for spiritual enlightenment before the game started. And it ended not with sweat, but simply the pouring rain and a pool of mud (unluckily, at our lane) . Woohoo...

Aku masih ingin bangkit.

Moga Allah membantuku.

A small step makes a difference

"You don't have to change that much for it to make a great deal of difference. A few simple disciplines can have a major impact on how your life works out in the next 90 days, let alone in the next 12 months or the next 3 years."--Jim Rohn

It makes a good impact on you when the trust and amanah given to groom them into better human beings, some with big potentials yet to be unleashed, becomes a success. Some friends may wander the reason people like us love to talk about this field anywhere we are. However, it is only those, in the circular or the ones who seek to understand, shall witness the rewards, definitely non-material.

I believe, my responsibility to bridge good rapport breeds success. What I witness, and the bearing of healthy fruits this time round makes me smile. I'm not saying that my forte is with these soon-to-be youths. I'm experiencing three different age groups. Because I feel that I can convey any motivational advices better to the higher level, than the younger ones. At least, they are considered the good bunch and beginning to learn the facets of life.

I have always told them, improvements may not necessarily be drastic, as individuals possess different levels of learning abilities. To me, a minor improvement is still, a success. Don't brag, but be grateful. I am very happy this time round as each and everyone of this particular batch entrusted to me improved. In fact, they boosted their grades. They have made me proud, really. Alhamdulillah.

It's this ni'mah that made me persevere in this field, I think. And other intangibles that surprises me along the way. Maybe this is what they say 'Tak kenal maka tak cinta' (You won't love something if you don't learn to know it)

Congrats to all my pupils who have made this happen. Strive, go on and never give up.
I guess, that goes the same with me. Their trials are over. My struggles in educating myself, has just begun.

Burning midnight oil for 5 days straight...
Hoping to feel the fighting spirit again...

The much waited dates are here...

11 Nov - RKGS 1999 (Research Methodology)
12 Nov - RKQS 2010 (Science of Qu'ran)
18 Nov - RKQS 2020 (Science of Hadith)
19 Nov - PSCI 1010 (Political Science)

Saturday papers in the afternoon. Sunday ones in the morning.
I am most comfortable with only one of the modules. As it's one of my favourites. The rest, are quite challenging to me. But, what's life without challenges, aye?

Have not collected the assignment on Pol. Sci. Wonder how the remarks & grades are. Heh, I'm sure risking it doing alone.

May Allah help this pioneer batch of ours. Bit Taufeeq Wannajaah. As well as my dear friends who are in the Unis mugging for exams too.
